Affirmative action
Measures to prevent or eliminate discrimination against certain groups. Some countries have laws of affirmative action, e.g. to promote employment of persons with disabilities or move towards less ethnical disparities in access to political and economic power. An example for affirmative action can be the introduction of gender quota. Affirmative action is meant to contribute to accelerating progress towards a society of equity and justice, correcting power imbalances from the past and the exclusion of groups of people based on certain characteristics.
