Human rights model of disability

The human rights model of disability takes universal human rights as a starting point. Persons with disabilities are seen as rights holders and States Parties have the obligation to ensure that they can enjoy all of their human rights within their society on an equal basis with others. Disability-inclusive development (DID) takes a rights-based approach.
