Mental Health
Mental Health is understood as “a state of (psychological) well-being (not merely the absence of mental health conditions) in which every individual realises his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community”. (IASC, 2021)
Mental health and psychosocial well-being should be seen as a continuum. The mental health continuum is a widespread model that shows mental health as a range, from thriving (good mental health) to struggling (severe challenges). It highlights how mental health can change over time due to stress, life events, or support systems, emphasizing that everyone moves along this spectrum.
