Tokenism

Tokenism is symbolic or “fake” participation. Tokenism is a ‘participatory’ approach that can be characterized as a perfunctory effort or a symbolic gesture. These could be processes that have purely informational character or consultative processes that have little or no further impact on changing the status quo. The primary aim of those actions is to prevent criticism and keep up appearances.
